~Father's Day Weekend

Wow! What a busy, eventful weekend we had! Friday I had a last minute idea to take pictures of JC with Brody and Mercedes! I knew I wouldn't be able to do it at any other time, so I had no choice but to do these right smack in the middle of the day before naptime! Gosh I really ask for it sometimes!! Anywho, the location wasn't nearly as shady as I thought, so these pictures aren't exactly exceptional, but they'll work for now!

We spent the day saturday with my grandma's two brothers from California and her sister and niece from Pueblo. Karen & Garry hosted the gathering at their house.

This day was also my dear mother's worst day ever, lol! She managed to break her ankle while playing with the grandbabies in the kiddie pool. She was in so much pain, but I had to take pictures as it was pretty darn funny watching uncle Lee and Mike carry her to a chair, then carry her to the car!

Mike and I took mom to Docs On Call for an xray! I was pretty sure it was only going to be a sprain or torn/stretched ligaments, but to my surprise the Doc came in and told us she had really hurt herself bad! He said she broke it in two spots and in a very critically, vulnerable area that may require surgery to place pins in the bone! Of course she was devastated and so upset, especially to hear that her injury could potentially mean surgery! The Doc put her in a splint and informed her that she would have to see an orthopedic surgeon monday to be set up with a cast and to be further informed on the situation with her break and surgery!

Even though the news was not good, I still had to get a picture of her comming out with her new "accessory"!

Mom was a trooper though! They gave her a shot for the pain, so she was able to go back to the BBQ to continue visiting with our family; However, not for long! The pain meds made her really nausious, so she had to bail after about and hour or so! Frank took her home where she called it a night! So Sunday finally came around. We made plans with my dad to have dinner with him! We just gathered at our house for beer and burgers...doesn't get any better than that in the summer time!! I of course gave dad a Hoops & YoYo card (they are my favorite)!! We spent the rest of the evening just visiting, laughing and enjoying eachothers company :)

~Summer Fun at the Park!

It's nice having a nice park within walking distance from our house! I can take the kids on a 15 minute walk there...which is nice excercise if you do a power walk...let them interact and play with other kiddos & of course...BURN ENERGY...the power walk back home, where hopefully they will be pooped enough to then take naps at the same time...This happens very seldomly!! Anywho, here are some pics of Brody & Mercedes from yesterdays adventure! I have more of Mercedes because Brody was too busy playing with the other kids...that's ok though since Mercedes has 2 1/2 years worth of pictures to catch up on!!

~HuggyBear's New BFF

The other day, HuggyBear made a new friend...well a temporary friend anyway!! Brody went to play outside and discovered HuggyBear playing with a snake! He rushed in to tell me that there was a snake in the backyard and that Huggy was playin' with it! At first I thought he was just telling me "stories" because the day before, JC was teasing him about snakes in Papa & Oma's field; Sure enough though, I go peek out the back door, and there she was playing with it...playing quite rough! She was biting it throwing it up in the air and thrashing it around! I was able to snap a few pics of her and her new BFF before she killed it!!

After she destroyed her buddy, I picked it up with a rake and hanged it off the fence so JC could see it! I quess it was just a garden snake, but I'm so thankful Huggy found it before Brody stumbled onto it and bit him...Eek!! In the last pic you can see Huggy's fur snagged on it's fangs! Good thing Huggy is so fluffy, it couldn't bite past her fur, lol!

~ Brody's a Finalist!

A couple of weeks ago I submitted a picture of both Brody and Mercedes to Parents Magazine for a cover contest (I don't usually do these because I know they are looooong shots, but this time I figured why not) and yesterday they informed me that Brody's picture was selected as a finalist!

The photo with the most votes this week will go into their semi-final Reader’s Choice round for a chance to travel to New York City for the Parents Cover Contest Photo Shoot, and Aunt Audrey is just dieing to go(as his personal hair and makeup artist)! Brody could really care less, of course!

~ Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year we had a little picnic BBQ at the park. The usual attended as well as Bertha, Karen, Garry, Brock, Savanna, Trish and a friend of hers! It was a wonderful, beautiful day to be spent outdoors with family!

After lunch, we went to Palisade and spent time with JC's mom Lyn!

My kiddos gave me a pair of Sketchers Shape-Ups for Mother's Day...What an excellent, thoughtful gift :P

~ Spoiled!

JC got an early birthday present this year...His new toy, a 2003 Bigdog Mastiff! It's quite loud, very pretty and sparkly and A LOT of fun to ride! I'm excited to ride through Gateway Canyon and Grand Mesa this year for Color Sunday...I hear it's a beautiful, amazing experience on a bike and I've never been through Gateway Canyon at all, so I'm way stoked to do that this year :o) JC & his dad would also like to take a ride north to Sturgess in July if time allows for them to do it!

JC is so proud of his new toy, he's been wanting a bike for soooo long now! He works so hard for everything we have and he absolutely DESERVES this!
